Landowners surprised by pipeline right-of-way

Landowners in Penn Township, Pennsylvania, were recently surprised to find that old right-of-way agreements can give a gas company the legal right clear trees and other vegetation in order to replace a natural gas pipeline that is 61 years old. Many of the landowners were not even aware of the right-of-way agreements. Like many real estate disputes, easements and rights-of-way are often controlled by recorded legal documents that impose legal rights on the title to property.

Residential plan proposed for Main Line estate

A residential real estate proposal has been made for the development of a historic Main Line estate in Radnor Township, Pennsylvania. The estate, known as Ardrossan, used to belong to Hope Montgomery Scott. Scott, a well-known socialite, was the person whom the film, "The Philadelphia Story," was based upon.

Zoning battle over proposed Haverford mental health center

Residents of Haverford, Pennsylvania turned out in large numbers at a recent planning commission meeting, expressing opposition to a request for a conditional use permit for a mental health care facility. Under applicable zoning laws, the property could be approved for such a facility as a conditional use, but approval is required.
